The cancelation will undoubtedly be met with dismay in some quarters, particularly among the Three Pines fans. The season’s final episode ended on a life-threatening cliffhanger, and many fans appear eager to know what happens next. The only option left for them now would be to read the book.
Emilia di Girolamo, a British screenwriter who was the lead writer on the first season, responded to the news of the cancelation on social media. She stated:
“I left the show last year to work on another project and was not involved in the conversations and negotiations around renewal, but I have been told Left Bank, Sony, and Prime Video all wanted to bring the show back but were unable to reach a mutually beneficial agreement,”
In a related development, the series’ Canadian star, Elle-Maija Tailfeathers, also reacted to the cancelation news. In her post, she thanked everyone who helped and supported the project, expressing gratitude that she never imagined it would be a #1 show.
The Canadian author of the best-selling novels that inspired Three Pines expressed surprise and disappointment that Prime Video had canceled the show. This is despite performing admirably in the prime markets.
However, she encouraged fans to contact Prime Video and express their support for the show, hoping they would reconsider their stance.
About Three Pines
Sony Pictures Television owned Left Bank produced Three Pines, and Prime Video was exclusively permitted to air it.
The story is based on Canadian writer Louise Penny’s Inspector Gamache series of novels, which occurs in and around Three Pines, a remote and fictional Quebec village in Canada. Viewers praised the series for portraying Indigenous characters and issues throughout its run.
In the film Three Pines, Alfred Molina plays Chief Inspector Armand Gamache. He works as a detective in Quebec, investigating various murders.
Rossif Sutherland, Sarah Booth, Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, Pierre Simpson, Julian Bailey, Anna Tierney, Frédéric-Antoine Guimond, Tamara Brown, Tantoo Cardinal, and Clare Coulter are among those who have appeared in the series.
The season featured four murder mysteries based on the books, with two episodes dedicated to each. The chief inspector, Alfred Molina, investigates a series of murders in this idyllic village in Quebec, Canada.
During his investigation, he uncovers long-buried secrets along the line. Unlike the books, the series includes a secondary storyline throughout the season, including investigating a young woman’s disappearance.
